What is Christian revival?

Revival refers to a spiritual reawakening from a state of dormancy or stagnation in the life of a believer. It encompasses the resurfacing of a love for God, an appreciation of God’s holiness, a passion for His Word and His church, a convicting awareness of personal and corporate sin, a spirit of humility, and a desire for repentance and growth in righteousness. Revival invigorates and sometimes deepens a believer’s faith, opening his or her eyes to the truth in a fresh, new way. It generally involves the connotation of a fresh start with a clean slate, marking a new beginning of a life lived in obedience to God. Revival breaks the charm and power of the world, which blinds the eyes of men, and generates both the will and power to live in the world but not of the world.

In the USA, the first revival, also called the First Great Awakening, produced an upsurge of devotion among Protestants in the 1730s and 1740s, carving a permanent mark on American religion. It resulted from authoritative preaching that deeply moved the church members with a convicting awareness of personal guilt and the awesome nature of salvation through Christ. Breaking away from dry ritual and rote ceremony, the Great Awakening made Christianity intensely personal to the average person, as it should be, by creating a deep emotional need for relationship with Christ.

lent days videos

What is Lent and why does it last forty days?

Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, which means “spring.” The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early church, Lent was a time to prepare new converts for baptism. Today, Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or to volunteer and give of themselves for others.

Sundays in Lent are not counted in the forty days because each Sunday represents a “mini-Easter” and the reverent spirit of Lent is tempered with joyful anticipation of the Resurrection.

Brother Praveen Kumar Messages

Pastor Praveen

Greetings to you in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am Reddimalla Praveen Ratna Kumar. I was born on 15th May, 1973, in Bellampalli, Adilabad, District of Andhra Pradesh, in South India. I was born to Mrs Lee Alexander and Mr.E.Alexander, who worked in Singareni Colleries Company as Mining officer. My grandfather Rev.Reddimalla Gyana Ratnam, served God in C.S.I, Dornakal diocese

Though I was brought up in a Christian family, I didn’t know anything about Lord Jesus Christ. I thought that I could enter into heaven as I had a Christian background. So with that pride, I never went to sunday school or church. After completion of my Degree in Wesley College, Hyderabad, I returned back to my native place Belampally. As my father was in an officer’s position at his work I had access to money, friends and free facilities and so used to spend all my time with friends in clubs, parks and play grounds. Even when I did not know God, He protected me and prevented from getting into any bad habits other than spending time with friends and involving in unnecessary matters. Bellamapally was famous as Naxalite controlled area and because of our misbehavior in the society, they warned us. But we didn’t listen to them. One day they attacked us. So I left my native place and ran away to Hyderabad to save my life. I had no food or shelter. I lived on the streets, slept in bus stands and parks. My daily food was two bananas and water. I was abandoned by every one and no one consoled me or encouraged me. I attempted suicide three times but did not succeed

Accidentally one day I came across Vishwavani meetings in S.P.G grounds, Secunderabad (the main speaker was Bro. BVD Joshi and Vijay Kumar, Kakinada). I knew that dinner would be served after the meeting, so I went there just to have dinner. At that time I had not eaten any food for the last three days. I was sitting at one corner of the ground without any interest towards the message and was waiting to have dinner after the meeting. But through that message, The Holy Spirit God opened my eyes and showed me all my faults. I immediately confessed my sins and realized that I was a sinner and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. On 23rd Jan 1993, at 9:15 p.m., I told God that “God if you lift me up from this pit, I will serve you and I will die for you” Just two days after that, I got a job as a store in charge in Deccan Continental, a Five star hotel in Hyderabad. I got a good fellowship in Kukatpally. My spiritual Mother, Rev.Ratna Manikyam of Lords Grace Church, used to encourage me a lot. I was working as an Evangelist along with my job. I got married in the year 1995 with Ramadevi, who was saved from a Hindu family and is a good believer. She is working as a staff nurse in Indian Railways, Bellampally. After my marriage along with the ministry, I started a travel business with an auto and a Jeep. I went through major financial crisis of a loss of 4.5 lakhs in the business. We both went through a major depression and disposed off the vehicles. God taught me many lessons in whatever I did and wherever I went. I surrendered myself totally and came to full time ministry on 9th Dec, 1999 Dec.

God blessed us with a beautiful church by our aunty Srilatha Sundaram. The Church started with three people in the first meeting. God touched many people through our ministry. Many people were delivered from demonic spirits, sickness, troubles, financial crisis, family problems etc. God blessed us gradually and now we have moved to a new church building in the same premises which can now accommodate 1000 people. We also have a Bible school, a 24 hour Prayer Tower and a T.V. ministry. My desire is to conduct Revival meetings in every District in Andhra Pradesh. Till now we have reached Eight districts on a regular monthly program. My Vision is to start a home for the aged and an orphanage. My desire is to reach our Nation and lift the Banner of Jesus Christ.

God blessed me with two children Abishek, Akshaya and with a spiritual son Stephen who shoulders and shares the burden and responsibility of this ministry. So, pray for us and our Ministry. May God richly bless you all.

Satish Kumar Messages

Calvary Temple

Biggest church in India

Bro. Satish Kumar started his Walk with God at the early age of 12, he started to learn to recognize Gods voice and know Gods will for his life and ministry. This has been the secret of his success and has laid a strong foundation for his ministry over the years.

In 1995 Bro.Satish kumar heard God’s voice in his heart. God said ” I WILL GIVE YOU A VERY BIG CHURCH “ This was even hard to imagine let alone think. He immediately shared this news with his close brothers and started praying for God ‘s vision and plan and purpose to be fulfilled in his life.

Bro.Satish Kumar never wanted to be a famous preacher and never prayed to be one. He “NEVER WANTED TO BE A PASTOR BUT ALL THAT HE WANTED WAS TO BE WAS A MISSIONARY PREACHING THE GOOD NEWS TO THE UNREACHED PEOPLE”. But in Gods sovereign will God decided to make Brother Satish Kumar a pastor to the largest church in INDIA.

It all began in 2005…..when God spoke to him to start Calvary Temple Church. Though Bro.Satish kumar was not interested in starting a church or being a pastor yet He Obeyed Gods command and started CALVARY TEMPLE with 25 people on June 5th 2005 in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, India.

Small beginnings can never be small when God is in it.

God has equipped Bro. Satish kumar to preach the word of God with His power and authority. He adopted his preaching method from Jesus Christ, that is .. preaching the word with illustrations and parables. This greatly helped people to understand the word and apply it to their daily lives. His spirit filled sermons have attracted hundreds and thousands of people to Calvary temple. By the year ending 2006 the church had nearly 1000 members.

God was with Calvary temple and was helping build the temple with living souls and as a result of this by the end of 2007 the church reached 3,000 members and in 2008 – 8,000 members 2009- 18,000 members, 2010- 30,000 , 2011- 40,000 members 2012- 50,000 and end of 2013 nearly 80,000 members, and at the end of June 2014 nearly 90,000 members and present 2015 More than 100,000 members worship God in this temple. Every month nearly 2000 people are added to the church and every year 15 to 20 thousands new members are added. Probably this is one fastest growing church in the world. All Glory to God.

By God Grace and by the diligence of bro.satish kumar and His administration Calvary Temple was able to secure its own land. Calvary temple moved from a rented premises to 12 acres of its own land. As soon the land was bought worship services were started under tents for a few months.

Mean while Bro. Satish Kumar wanted to fast and pray in the land for forty days. 40 days prayers started on 11th June and continued for more than 6 months.

After praying for 40 days everyone wanted the prayers to extend to 40 more days and so 80 days prayers began. After 80 days this got extended to another 40 days. For 120 days, thousands of people gathered daily to pray inspite of the bad weather and torrential rains. Bro. Satish kumar was led by the Lord to meditate on the book of Nehemiah during these 4 months of fasting prayers. Everyone enjoyed and soaked in the word of God and as Nehemiah prayed for 3 to 4 months before God asked him to build the wall of Jerusalem so Calvary temple also prayed for 120 days.

On October 9th at 6.30am God Spoke to bro.satish kumar to lay the foundation stone for the church building. By this time the church had payed a lot of money for the land and to immediately construct a church would be a challenging step. But Bro. Satish kumar heard from God and wanted to lay the foundation stone and asked God to enable him to build the church in 52 days as He did for Nehemiah. Nehemiah built the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days.

During the church service Brother Satish kumar declared saying ” We are going to build the church in 52days with the help of Gods mighty hand. We are going to lay the foundation stone on 11 November and will finish construction by 31 December and enter into the new sanctuary by 1st Jan 2013”. This was astonishing news and came as a surprise to all the members! Can a church as big as a stadium with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000 be built in 52 days ???? Is this is possible???

By Gods Grace and mercy on the 11th of November the foundation stone was laid by Brother Satish kumars beloved mother and his family amidst many of Gods servants and church believers.

Is it possible to build a church with a capacity of nearly 18,000 in 52 days ??? this is a million dollar question. Even many godly people thought that Bro.Satish Kumar made a wrong decision in announcing that the church will be built in 52days. This was next to impossible. If the Church will not be built in 52 days then whatever name he had earned during these years will be wiped out. But God was so good to bro. Satish Kumar and his word. Though many problems and challenges were encountered during construction yet God kept HIS promise and helped build the church in 52 days. All the church members entered into the new sanctuary on 1st Jan 2013 at 6.00pm and celebrated God’s victory and saw the work of His hand. Glory be to God !

Today Calvary temple has Five services

5:45am, 8:45am, 11:45pm, 5:30 pm – 7:00 (English service) and 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
