baptism with the holy spirit sermons

What is the importance of Christian baptism?

Christian baptism is one of two ordinances that Jesus instituted for the church. Just before His ascension, Jesus said, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19–20). These instructions specify that the church is responsible to teach Jesus’ word, make disciples, and baptize those disciples. These things are to be done everywhere (“all nations”) until “the very end of the age.” So, if for no other reason, baptism has importance because Jesus commanded it.

Baptism was practiced before the founding of the church. The Jews of ancient times would baptize proselytes to signify the converts’ “cleansed” nature. John the Baptist used baptism to prepare the way of the Lord, requiring everyone, not just Gentiles, to be baptized because everyone needs repentance. However, John’s baptism, signifying repentance, is not the same as Christian baptism, as seen in Acts 18:24–26 and 19:1–7. Christian baptism has a deeper significance.

lent days videos

What is Lent and why does it last forty days?

Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, which means “spring.” The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.

Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. In the early church, Lent was a time to prepare new converts for baptism. Today, Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or to volunteer and give of themselves for others.

Sundays in Lent are not counted in the forty days because each Sunday represents a “mini-Easter” and the reverent spirit of Lent is tempered with joyful anticipation of the Resurrection.

Billy Graham Loneliness

DGS Dinkaran Messages

Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran A young man depressed unable to bear the anguish of poverty, sickness, unemployment and failures in life, in an attempt to put an end to all the miseries of his life, walked towards the railway track to end his life. On the way, he met his uncle who shared about Jesus Christ and his words appeared like the balm to his bruised heart, his uncle told him to go home and commit his ways to the Lord. He returned home with a hope in his heart. He prayed and committed his life to the Savior; and the joy of salvation filled his heart. This young man was none other than late Dr. D.G.S Dhinakaran.

Supernatural Experience

Dr. D.G.S.Dhinakaran After this incident, he started seeking the Lord fervently, reading the scriptures and waiting in the presence of the Lord for many hours. He was diligently seeking the Lord for seven long years. He was pleading, “Lord! Hear my prayer and grant me your power! I don’t want to live a dried Christian life anymore!” He wanted to have communion with God like the saints in the Bible.
On 10th October 1962, during the family prayer a divine presence filled that room. Yes, he saw the Lord Jesus Christ face to face and He said, “I am Jesus. I have come to bless you.” The Lord filled him with His Holy Spirit.
He said “Son, this world has only heard about my love and compassion. However, it has not seen it in a man’s life. Today, I am filling you with the same spirit of compassion which I had, when I was in this world two thousand years ago. Every time you are moved with this compassion within you, whatever you ask for my people shall be granted”.

Supernatural Ministry

Dr. D.G.S.Dhinakaran After this supernatural encounter with God, the life of Dr.D.G.S Dhinakaran took a new dimension. Every time he prayed for people he could literally feel the presence of God and the compassion of the Lord filling his heart. The gifts of the Holy Spirit started to operate in a great measure and mighty miracles took place bringing glory to God.
He was working as a top executive in a Nationalized Bank; but he spent most of his spare time and holidays to minister in different places. People could see the manifestation of the power of God. The ministry of Dr.D.G.S Dhinakaran was the foundation and the life of Jesus Calls ministry.
Whenever he preached and prayed at public meetings, people saw him interpreting tongues, and heard him speak the word of wisdom and knowledge. During the prayer time in public meetings, he called out the names of people who were in the crowd revealing their spiritual, emotional and physical condition through divine revelation. These people ran to the dais and testified confirming what Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran said about their lives was true.
Every day thousands of people wrote to him seeking solutions to their problems in life. Inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit, he gave them word of comfort and counsel. The lame who were carried to the meetings walked, the blind saw, tumours and cancer were healed miraculously and many received peace and happiness in their lives.

Milestones in the Ministry of Dr. D.G.S Dhinakaran

  • First message in FEBA Radio, on March 2, 1972
  • First overseas ministry in Sri Lanka in 1973
  • In May 1973, the first Jesus Calls Magazine was released
  • On September 26, 1977 the Lord Jesus appeared and commanded him to train people to preach the Gospel filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • The first Institute of Power Ministry in Chennai in July 1980.
  • On August 12, 1983, the Holy Spirit guided him to build a Prayer Tower for those who are in need of prayers at any time of the day.
  • On July 25, 1985, the Lord Jesus Christ appeared and revealed about the plan for the young people who want to join as partakers in Jesus Calls.
  • On October 10, 1993, the Bethesda Prayer Centre was launched
  • On November 4, 1986, Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran inaugurated the Karunya Institute of Technology, a residential Engineering College as per the divine plan of God.

On May 21, 1986, a great tragedy struck this servant of God! He lost his only beloved daughter, Angel in a car accident on his way to the airport for an important meeting regarding establishment of Karunya Institute of Technology. Shattered and broken by this terrible disaster, it took great courage and God’s strength to recover from this agony.

Truly, Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran was a man after God’s own heart, who prayed for the broken hearted people and brought healing through the love & compassion of Jesus Christ.
In a remark about Dr. D.G.S Dhinakaran, Dr. M.G. Pat Robertson, Chairman of CBN, USA said, ” Frankly, I cannot recall any figure in the Old Testament or New Testament who has had such a profound and ongoing encounter with the Deity. ”

Great servants of God, like Dr.Pat Robertson, Dr.Dave Roberson, Pastor.John Osteen honored Dr.D.G.S.Dhinakaran as the apostle of this age in India. Even the secular leaders and the leaders of the nations respected him and honored him and sought his prayers and counsel in times of need.

This great man of God, who obeyed the Lord and stood faithful in all the missions and plans given to him by God entered glory on February the 20th, 2008. Thousands of people came to have a glimpse of the man who stood in the gap to intercede for them.

Brother Praveen Kumar Messages

Pastor Praveen

Greetings to you in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am Reddimalla Praveen Ratna Kumar. I was born on 15th May, 1973, in Bellampalli, Adilabad, District of Andhra Pradesh, in South India. I was born to Mrs Lee Alexander and Mr.E.Alexander, who worked in Singareni Colleries Company as Mining officer. My grandfather Rev.Reddimalla Gyana Ratnam, served God in C.S.I, Dornakal diocese

Though I was brought up in a Christian family, I didn’t know anything about Lord Jesus Christ. I thought that I could enter into heaven as I had a Christian background. So with that pride, I never went to sunday school or church. After completion of my Degree in Wesley College, Hyderabad, I returned back to my native place Belampally. As my father was in an officer’s position at his work I had access to money, friends and free facilities and so used to spend all my time with friends in clubs, parks and play grounds. Even when I did not know God, He protected me and prevented from getting into any bad habits other than spending time with friends and involving in unnecessary matters. Bellamapally was famous as Naxalite controlled area and because of our misbehavior in the society, they warned us. But we didn’t listen to them. One day they attacked us. So I left my native place and ran away to Hyderabad to save my life. I had no food or shelter. I lived on the streets, slept in bus stands and parks. My daily food was two bananas and water. I was abandoned by every one and no one consoled me or encouraged me. I attempted suicide three times but did not succeed

Accidentally one day I came across Vishwavani meetings in S.P.G grounds, Secunderabad (the main speaker was Bro. BVD Joshi and Vijay Kumar, Kakinada). I knew that dinner would be served after the meeting, so I went there just to have dinner. At that time I had not eaten any food for the last three days. I was sitting at one corner of the ground without any interest towards the message and was waiting to have dinner after the meeting. But through that message, The Holy Spirit God opened my eyes and showed me all my faults. I immediately confessed my sins and realized that I was a sinner and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. On 23rd Jan 1993, at 9:15 p.m., I told God that “God if you lift me up from this pit, I will serve you and I will die for you” Just two days after that, I got a job as a store in charge in Deccan Continental, a Five star hotel in Hyderabad. I got a good fellowship in Kukatpally. My spiritual Mother, Rev.Ratna Manikyam of Lords Grace Church, used to encourage me a lot. I was working as an Evangelist along with my job. I got married in the year 1995 with Ramadevi, who was saved from a Hindu family and is a good believer. She is working as a staff nurse in Indian Railways, Bellampally. After my marriage along with the ministry, I started a travel business with an auto and a Jeep. I went through major financial crisis of a loss of 4.5 lakhs in the business. We both went through a major depression and disposed off the vehicles. God taught me many lessons in whatever I did and wherever I went. I surrendered myself totally and came to full time ministry on 9th Dec, 1999 Dec.

God blessed us with a beautiful church by our aunty Srilatha Sundaram. The Church started with three people in the first meeting. God touched many people through our ministry. Many people were delivered from demonic spirits, sickness, troubles, financial crisis, family problems etc. God blessed us gradually and now we have moved to a new church building in the same premises which can now accommodate 1000 people. We also have a Bible school, a 24 hour Prayer Tower and a T.V. ministry. My desire is to conduct Revival meetings in every District in Andhra Pradesh. Till now we have reached Eight districts on a regular monthly program. My Vision is to start a home for the aged and an orphanage. My desire is to reach our Nation and lift the Banner of Jesus Christ.

God blessed me with two children Abishek, Akshaya and with a spiritual son Stephen who shoulders and shares the burden and responsibility of this ministry. So, pray for us and our Ministry. May God richly bless you all.
